Random Thankfulness

This post has two purposes:
first, to test out posting pictures in a larger format (I figured I'd use random pictures),
and second, to thank all of you!
To begin, I chose a picture of Kramer being his usual cat-itude self:).
Many of you have commented that you would like to see my pictures larger and I sincerely thank you for your kind suggestions (not to mention I really appreciate your visits to my blog and your taking the time to share suggestions with me:)!
Included in this thank you are pictures of lovely papers that Rosalind from
http://the-papergirl.blogspot.com/
sent to me.
Some of the papers are from her stash...
while others she made herself.
I can honestly say I have never seen such beautiful hand-made paper as those precious pieces she shared with me.
I can't wait to make something beautiful with them!
Thank you Rosalind!
This antique glove box was a gift from my dear friend Christine for Christmas.
I had admired it and the little sneak went back after we left the antiques store to buy it for me:).
The details of this lovely box seemed like good subject matter to test out larger pictures:).
I also thought I would share some of the Valentine's that I made for family and friends this year.
With my new camera I am trying out all kinds of photo collage stuff.
Thanks to all of the amazing artists whose blogs I visit who provide such inspiration as well as instruction on how to create beautiful things!
I used vintage buttons on all of the cards.
Finally, to all of my friends in blogland that visit and leave kind comments-
THANK YOU!!!
Your kindness and gracious words, whether it be about my pets, house, or whatever I post, always warms my heart:).
You are truly treasures each and every one of you!

Winter Weekend Wonderland

My weekend began with hubby's quartet serenading me at work
(see Friday's post for more).
The day seemed normal enough until later that night when it began to snow!
This a major occurrance here on the coast.
It was amazing standing on the front porch snapping pictures of the snow falling while the sounds of children playing drifted through the night air.
For many of these children this was their first snow experience:).
Our back patio covered in snow.
By morning the snow blanketed everything in a layer of sparkling white.
This was Terra Cottage's first snow:).
Pale hues of pink illumintated the shimmering layers of white.
No sitting on the bench today!
The flag adds a burst of color to the backdrop of white.
Spanish moss and snow-an unusual combination!
Sparkling trees.
A snow trimmed fountain.
Kasey, Calvin, and Lizzy enjoyed their first time playing in the snow:).
By lunchtime it was mostly melted with only the remnants of snowmen remaining around town.
Of course, there was no time to play in the snow as I had to prepare for tea with the wives of hubby's quartet members later in the day.
It was a small gathering with an Earl Gray and Vanilla tea blend being served.
Cranberry scones with strawberry preserves, cheese straws, and olives to nibble.
After tea we all met at a local restaurant for dinner.
Sunday was a time to rest.
Kramer was curled up (so was his tail:).
Kasey, Lizzy, Calvin, and Kramer were worn out from all of the weekend excitment.
While they rested I prepared a pot of Vanilla Rose tea and a small plate of chocolates and spent some time reflecting on the LOVE-liness of the Valentine's Day weekend:).
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
What kind of LOVE-ly things did you do?

Kramer Chronicles-Valentine Love

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and Kramer has decided to share his heart with some of those lovely little kitties out there in blogland.
At first he was a bit shy about the idea.
But he got over it quickly when he thought about their lovely whiskered faces.
He checked everything to make sure it was purrrfect.
Hmmm...smells like catnip!
So here's a Happy Valentine Day wish to all the lovely kitties in blogland from Cassanova Kramer:)!
He finds the resident kitties at the following blogspots extra special:
Happy Valentine's Day
Love,
Kramer

****************
On another love note...
Hubby and his quartet came to sing to me at work today.
In addition to the lovely heartfelt songs he presented me with a rose and a box of chocolates-yummm!
But when I opened the box something looked odd...let's get a closer look.
Maybe a little closer...
that's not chocolate!
Yup, he surprised me by slipping this beautiful cabachon garnet ring into the box of chocolates!
(he's so sneaky:)!
I guess you never know what you'll find in a box of Valentine chocolates!
I hope that you all have a beautiful, love-filled Valentine's Day!
Oops, Kramer needs to send one more Valentine wish to...

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Valentine's Poetry

"I think of thee at Eventide
When shines the star of Love-
When earth is garnished like a Bride,
And all is bright above-
I think of thee when orient day
Puts on its golden wings,
And mounts upon its bright'ning way,
in beauty like the spring."

Friendship Valentine

"Do you know what friendship is?
Yes-it is to be as brother and sister,
two souls which touch each other without meeting,
like two fingers on the same hand."
