Pumpkin Patch Paradise!

If you haven't noticed, I love autumn!
Especially pumpkins!
One of our local churches hosts an annual pumpkin sale and I couldn't resist photographing it:).
Pumpkins fill baskets.
"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see."
Linus, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
White pumpkins,
mottled pumpkins,
and classic orange pumpkins.
Here's a red pumpkin
(looks like a tomato and a pumpkin got together-would that make this a 'tumpkin'?)
"Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie."
-Jim Davis
"It's the GREEN pumpkin Charlie Brown!"
Pumpkins as far as the eye can see:).
I call this the 'peanut pumpkin' because it looks like a bunch of peanuts.
(hmmm...we got tomato pumpkins and now peanut pumpkins-there's some serious cross pollination going on in these pumpkin patches:).
Colorful pumpkins.
Ring around the pumpkins, pocket full of something, ashes, ashes, we all carve now!
Baskets of mini pumpkins.
"Oh, Great Pumpkin, where are you?
-Linus
"Have you come to sing pumpkin carols?"
-Linus
These are just 'gourd-ous'!
"I've learned there are three things you don't discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin."-Linus"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
-Henry David Thoreau

So here ends my pumpkin post.

You can find me in the pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin...

"Scarlett, Is That You?"

No, that's my niece!
If you remember from previous posts, this lovely young lady likes to dress up in gowns.
So this weekend she took a trip back in time and dressed up in some of my civil war gowns.
I think we all have a little 'Scarlett' in us:).

Farmers Market Harvest

Beneath moss laden oak trees every Saturday morning...
is the Farmer's Market where many gather with family and friends.
This lovely lady was accompanied by her pet parrot:).
Local farmer's brought everything from honey,
to eggplant,
peppers,
even giant shrimp (this one was about five inches)!
Delicate sprays of flower bouquets...
add warmth and beauty to this harvest scene.
Loaves of homemade bread.
And what would an autumn harvest be without pumpkins?
The Lord's bounty was abundantly displayed on this beautiful autumn day for all to enjoy:).

Sunday Wisdom

"He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,
but whoever is kind to the needy honors God."

The Big Event!

Looks like Kramer is waiting for something.
Yup, the big event is here and Kramer is waiting patiently in the library for it!
I took the day off of work for this event...
but before I headed to town...
I enjoyed my morning off by strolling amongst the last of summer's roses.
With a carafe of tea and cash in hand I headed to waterfront park for the annual book sale hosted by the 'Friends of the Library.'
Thousands of books from antique to paperback on every subject imaginable are donated for the sale each year. As you can see I wasn't the only one braving the 90+ degree weather to shop for books, CD's, and DVD's (no it's not a typo-it was 90+ degrees here today)!
After a grueling morning of shopping I headed across the street to the antique shop to celebrate another big event...
Miss Jess's birthday!
Byron sings Happy Birthday to Miss Jess in English and then in French!
(Ok, just to clarify, the box on Colin's lap is not full of wine-it's filled with books-he was at the book sale too:).
Byron joins the celebration after his performance:).
After a fun filled day I returned home with my treasures.
I purchased several CD's of Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, and the Glenn Miller Band for $1 each.
Of course, I bought lots of books!
After a busy day it's time to curl up with a glass of wine and a good book!
Now the only decision is whether to listen to Mozart or Vivaldi:).
Thanks for tagging along!
