Books, Books, and More Books, Vol. II

Welcome to Volume II of the books from dad and Ann!
Yup-two more boxes of books arrived with more treasures:).
This one is very interesting...
as it deals with playing checkers.
This was another interesting book
(modern science in 1925!).
The Honorable William Howard Taft was part of this book:).
Who doesn't love the campfire girls?
Another intriguing title.
This was my favorite!
A series of notable quotations.
Ironically, earlier in the day hubby attended a yard sale where he purchased a copy of Nicholas Nickleby for me.
I love the illustrations.
He also found this set of vintage building guides-perfect for my handy hubby (if you would like to know more about his handiness visit my other blog
http://bathtubdiary.blogspot.com)
Thanks for sharing another book review with me!
Believe it or not there are more on the way!

Lovely!! My hubby loves old books. He came across one recently that was written somewhere around the turn of the century that was titled "How to Do Things". We laughed about that for ten minutes...

Kim I love old books, and your collection is so amazing!!! Thanks for sharing them!

And, I took a peek at your spare bedroom. It is absolutely beautiful! All of it! The headboard of the bed is stunning! Everything is bed and breakfast worthy and magazine quality.

Take care and God bless.

Kim,
Goshes! You are so lucky to have such treasures!! I agree with your favorite as it would be mine too. I am so longing for Yard Sale season to start here. First we need to get rid of the snow. I will be looking for some great vintage books of my own.

Ohhhh, what lovely old books. I felt as if I could smell them way over here, I LOVE the smell of old books!! We have a restaurant in NJ called The Library and the walls are lined from top to bottom with old books that have been donated. It has a fabulous atmosphere to this place and i love eating there when ever I fly home for a visit. The best part of the place is, you can simply take a book off the shelf and take it with you if you would like, or lots of them! It is the greatest fun! Hence the name of the place. Kim, you would sooo love it there! I remember The Campfire Girls!! You must have a fabulous collection of old books by now. I love the one on modern medicine from 1925! Golden!! Enjoy the new additions, and how I loved that you shared them with us all. By the way, we were at the coffee house again and i sat in the old red velvet chair and thought of you !! hugs, Debby

What a lucky girl you are to get these! I was struck by "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" because I remember my mom singing that when I was little. I looked it up, and it was a popular tune written in 1913. Here are the lyrics:

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine—
In the pale moonshine our hearts entwine,
Where she carved her name and I carved mine;
Oh, June, like the mountains I'm blue—
Like the pine I am lonesome for you,
In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine.
