For the love of books!

We love books!
Many years ago we turned our third bedroom into a library to accommodate this love affair with the written word.
Kramer also loves the library:).
I love books of all kinds...
especially anything written by Charles Dickens!
Books, books, books! What a wonderful thing!
I also love the time I spend in the library as I am surrounded by some of my favorite things like these yellow roses.
This stained glass window captures the sun's rays transforming them into sparkles of light.
Antique silver-another passion of mine-graces this group of old books:).
Although this is not a real fireplace the antique mantel adds warmth to the room.
Photos of my beloved horse sit beside an antique iron clock case, and yes, the other photo is me at my first horseshow at the age of eight.
(antique clocks-yet another amour of mine).
The clock case houses a carriage clock next a photo of hubby and me and a silver pitcher of flowers.
The Victorians had a love of art-obviously we do too!
You didn't think I had a room without a flying pig, did you?
Thanks for spending time with me in the library.
Where do you love to spend time in your home?

Books are well loved around here...also decorating magazines!

Think it depends what mood I'm in for which room I enjoy the most.

Beautiful, I adore old books and inherited/saved many of my Granny's books with beautiful leather outers and wonderful illustrations inside, they take me away to other worlds and I love it. Your roses are wonderful, I can't wait to see flowers again in my garden, roll on Springtime! Catherine x

Oh my gosh, i would love to spend some time in that library of yours! how cozy it looks. I too love books so much, and desperately need to get some shelves up to hold my ever growing collection. there is something about a book that fills me with wonder, with happiness. i even love the smell of them, especially the older ones! How a fantastic post, as always. hugs, Debby

What a wonderful post! I think we all have a love affair with books. They are so adventurous and take us places that we can only fathom. Where do I like to spend my time you ask? Hmmm, perhaps my desk? As you know, I love to write and am happiest when I am creating. So I guess, a better answer would be I am happiest wherever I can sit with my laptop:)

Kim my dearest! WHat a gorgeous library you have! We have books in every room of the house, even the kitchen and the main bathroom. The only room without books is my boudoir, but let me see....I just might put a mini book on the shelf! Thanks for coming by to shake it up a bit on the dance floor. One glass of wine, coming up! White or Red?

Have a grand day Kim!! Anita

Dearest Kim,

I have had a delightful visit catching up on your last two posts! I love your gorgeous home!!! It is so Victorian!!! Thank you for sharing all the photos of your library. We are still working on ours, and it needs lots of artwork! Thank you for all the inspiration!

I love Charles Dickens too! He is one of my favorites. I am currently reading Bleak House.

Kramer looks so happy in the library. All of your books are just beautiful, and I love all of your vignettes. You have a real eye for them! You have quite a nice collection of old books! Such treasures!

I love the pretty yellow roses and the stained glass window. The old silver is so beautiful too! I love the antique mantel and the lace draping it is gorgeous. Your old clocks are wonderful! The photo of you and your horse are so sweet, and the photo of you and your hubby looks right out of the Victorian era! The flying pig is so sweet! I love knowing the story behind them.

Thank you so much for sharing!
Love you, Paula

How cozy and dear to have a library of one's own. You must spend many treasured hours there. Thanks for the little tour!

Love the wall of art... everywhere the eyes can gaze there is beauty to look upon.
Kramer giving his personal appraisal of your wonderful quilt in the last post was quite amusing, but then when is Kramer not amusing.

Kim-

I LOVE your library! All those old books are great, and I love your art gallery on the wall! How nice that you have an entire room to dedicate as a library. For years now, I say that my next project will be to turn our one room into a library. But the books stack up elsewhere, and I haven't gotten to it. You inspire me, so I'll have to get going on that project soon! :)

Hi Kim, I love books too! I have them all over the house but I would dearly love a library of my own. You and Kramer would be welcome any time!

Have a great week, Bonnie
