Terra Cottage-The Parlor

Welcome to Terra Cottage!
I thank all of you for your very kind comments regarding our library decor.
Some people have mentioned wanting to see other rooms so I have decided to feature a different room each week.
This is the parlor.
Kasey decided she would model for this room.
(As you can see we need to have a sofa with detached cushions so the dogs have somewhere to curl up:).
Obviously the chair has a detached cushion too!
Each room is filled with things that we enjoy.
Most have been found at thrift shops or discount stores.
Pictures are one of my favorite things for decorating.
I love to create vignettes!
Thanks for joining me in the parlor
(and for all of your gracious comments regarding our home)!
I don't know what is more fun-hunting for decorating treasures or the actual task of decorating.
Which do you prefer-shopping for decorating items or the actual decorating?

Oh Kim I just loved the tour of that room. So warm and comfy. The snow is a stranger to you folks I know. We have it everywhere. Gonna have it for awhile to. I loved the thingie over the window, can't remember the word. Looking forward to the rest of the house.

How utterly totally beautiful! I think I need to come on over and let you give me some lessons in decorating a home! But beware, I just might move in with you while there cuz I might never want to leave such delightful surroundings. I will have to make sure my sister reads this post, she will love the pictures!! We were at a cafe here in town this week for some hot coffee and cream cake, and they had added a new decoration to the place - an antique chair that looked so much like the one you have in your header, that I was taken back and had to stand for a moment to stare at the chair to see all the details. When ever I go to the cafe from now on, I will feel as if I am visiting with you!! hugs from here, Debby

Hi Kim, you have such a lovely home. You know what, sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era too!

My furry kids think they own the sofa and my bed!

Hi Kim,

I loved seeing your delightful Parlour.
I often think how lovely it would have been to live in the Victorian era. The clothes and beautiful rooms.
Thank you for showing us around today.

Hugs

Kim-

I really loved seeing your parlor from so many angles! Your window treatments are so luxurious and Victorian! I love all your paintings and books everywhere. And your furniture is perfect, because it's so Victorian AND it's also comfy and cushy enough for even the pets to sit on!

Your home is beautiful, Kim. Please share more photos! I'd love to see more rooms in your house.

The doggies on the furniture and the bone on the floor just add the perfect touch to any room. :o) A house isn't a home without dog hair! (My own quote as we have two shelties!)

Just lovely...and it is wonderful to use objects from thrift stores, auctions and antique shops to do our part for recycling.
