Lights, Camera, Action at Magnolia Plantation!

Over the past few days hubby and I have been preparing for a filming event at Magnolia Plantation. I thought it would be fun to take my blog-blog sisterhood buddies along with us!
Setting-Magnolia Plantation, c. 1676.

An old iron gate opens to welcome visitors...

while stone lions perch upon brick pillars guarding the grounds beyond.

A historic marker designates this nationally recognized landmark.

A canopy of oaks shades the lane.

Ancient oaks stand tall beside pastures of ponies.

A majestic oak.

A bridge in the distance invites one for a relaxing walk across the pond.
Just around the bend a beautiful mansion looms ahead past gardens of flowers.

The carriage house, an early 18th century structure, awaited our arrival.

The interior wood is original to this structure which now hosts events at the plantation. On this afternoon it was the place for us to prepare for filming.

A small cottage just beyond the carriage house.

A stroll along marshy waters helped to pass time.

Moss laden branches hang softly above the murky waters.

Bright pink petals float on the green algae surface.

Down another lane the remnants of slave quarters stand amongst the trees.
Some now house equipment...

while others are open to give view to the past.

Flora...

and fauna abound.

After our stroll hubby desides to rest.

Later in the evening (ok, really late in the evening around 11:00:) we are in costume.

Silly hubby decides to goof off while we wait!
Please join me tomorrow for something we don't often get to do-
take a midnight stroll through the grounds of this mysteriously romantic plantation...

Bonjour!!! What a lovely surprise to find your sweet comments and I just love the stroll down a path leading to a mysterious, wonderful place! I enlarged the picture of you and your husband standing in costume; what a beautiful couple you are! Don't you just love dressing up to your favorite era? My husband and I went to the Renaissance Fair several years ago and I made our costumes. We loved every minute of it! Thank you for your prayers and well wishes on my thesis; I made a big leap this morning on chapter one and now I can start tying things up! What a lovely summer day it has been here in Minneapolis. I hope you are enjoying the great sunshine as well. God bless!! Anita

Thank you for sharing these pics. You two look awesome.
The grounds are enchanting.
Loved this post and will have to share with my sweetie. Maybe if he sees the sights, he'll want to go to this place as well.
Your midnight stroll will be wonderful.

Wow what a great opportunity. I love to dress up too. I am planning a post of several Halloweens where I always dress up and sit in the garage and tell fortunes or stories to all the trick or treaters.

Oh Kim,
You had my FULL attention at the title!!!!!

This place is beautiful and looks like something I'd find here in Louisiana...my sister home!

I love the marshes, the crape myrtles along the edge, the cypress knees peeping out of the water...oh I feel like I'm home!

Now you HAVE to spill the beans and tell us what's going on...I won't be able to sleep tonight and I don't know if I can wait until part two!

oh and by the way...you two look fabulous!!!!!

Dear Kim,

I enjoyed the tour so much. Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos! Those oaks are amazing and I love the spanish moss covering them. We see a lot of that on the bald cypress trees here in Louisiana. I loved seeing you and your husband all dressed up! You are so pretty! The two of you make a handsome couple!

I look forward to the rest of the tour tomorrow.

Love, Paula

That is certainly an inspiring romantic location. What kind of film is being shot and are you a part of it?
