Dress number 10

Last night I performed stories at Palm Key on Knowles Island. Palm Key is an amazing place surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife with lovely cottages that can be rented. Palmetto fronds dangle above the edge of the pond.
Views of the pond at sunset.
Palmetto trees outside of the building where the storytelling performance was held.
When performing I always set up with period specific items.

Antique photos, eye glass case, and card holder sit atop an antique leather hat case softened with bits of lace.
This is dress number 10 made by my angel of a friend, Christine. The fabric for the bodice came from a velvet curtain panel while the skirt fabric came from a shower curtain. This is what I call my version of the Scarlett O'Hara curtain dress:)
The tatted lace collar on the dress is antique. The fringe on the skirt was part of the shower curtain while the brown velvet roses were made with the leftover scraps from the bodice.

Your dress is gorgeous! I'm sure Scarlett would be envious! I've always been curious... are dresses like that very warm?

Did you have a nice audience?

What a wonderful evening it must have been with storytelling and all the period costume and opera glasses and props.

What a wonderful dress. I love that you tell stories. What do you normally select to read or tell?

That dress is beautiful, and it just cracks me up that it was made from curtains and a shower curtain! That IS very Scarlett O'Hara! Love it! ~Lori

What a very lovely dress! It's exquisite! The collar looks like a very well done irish crochet to me, it's hard to tell for sure without a closeup, but what a beautiful outfit it is! I'll bet it is such a pleasure to come to one of your storytellings! :)
